Reading Logs Please continue to log minutes with your child for January. January Logs are due, FRIDAY, FEB 1ST! Don't forget to log your child's reading in the Six Flags Read to Succeed log too! To participate, your child needs to read for a total of 6 hours or 360 minutes. This log must be returned to school by February 22, 2013 in order to receive a free ticket to Six Flags theme park.
Math We began Ch. 13, Time. Students will explore minutes and hours, tell time to the quarter hour, tell and show time to 5 minutes, tell time before the hour and describe times of events as A.M. or P.M.
Flash Cards Students should be working hard to memorize their addition and subtraction facts.
Science We had a visitor, Mr. Luby, from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. He talked to the students about owls. We learned about what they look like, how they live, what they eat and where they live. Mr. Luby brought a real Screech Owl and a Great Horned Owl for us to see! In our classroom we also got to dissect an owl pellet. Ask your child about it! Next week, we will continue with the unit on Living Things. We will be talking about plants.
Star Student of the Week Calder was our star student of the week. When he is at school he enjoys gym. When he is at home he likes to watch TV and build with Legos. When Calder grows up he would like to be an inventor. He is a star because he works hard, is funny and he can build cool stuff. Thanks for sharing Calder!
