Ms. Zurales' 3rd Grade News

ELA We will finish reading the novel The One and Only Ivan. This week we wrote an Opinion paper on whether or not animals should be kept in zoos. 

Please make sure your child is recording their minutes in their log. It is due on or before May 31.

Please encourage your child to read over the summer. They will continue to have access to their Raz Kid account. This program makes it fun to read. A letter with your child's Fountas and Pinnell Instructional and Independent Reading Levels will go home next week. Please use this to select books at your local library over the summer.

MATH Please practice math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) this summer.

Important Dates & Announcements

We will be collecting chromebooks on Tuesday. Please send your child with their chromebook and CHARGER to school on Tuesday. 

Wow! Where did the school year go? Tuesday begins our countdown until 4th Grade!

5/29 - Wear crazy socks

5/30 - Crazy Hair

5/31 - Wear your favorite vacation shirt

6/1 -Wear a hat and shades - Field Day and Talent Show

6/4 - Last Day - Bring a fancy pen to sign yearbooks

Ms. Zurales' 3rd Grade News

ELA. We are reading the novel The One and Only Ivan. Students are completing a packet that addresses multiple reading skills. 

Please make sure your child is recording their minutes in their log.

SPELLING  On Monday, new sorts went home. Three activities from the spelling menu are due on May 18, the day of the test.

SOCIAL SCIENCE  Science:  We will continue with Mystery Science. We are learning about Animals Through Time:  Heredity, Variation, & Selection. 

MATH  Ms. Zurales' math class:  We are revisiting fractions.  There will be a Fraction Checkpoint Quiz on Monday and Tuesday is the Unit Test on Fractions.  A study guide went home on May 10. It is due on Monday, May 14. Please make sure to review it with your child. There will be a 3s division quiz on Wednesday, May 16th. 

If your child should forget their Student Book or their Home Connections workbook at school, they can go into my google math classroom from a home computer and print the page they will need to complete for homework.

Important Dates & Announcements

The zoo field trip is Thursday. Please make sure to dress your child for the weather and in comfy shoes. They will also need a sack lunch and drink that is disposable.

ELA. We are reading the novel The One and Only Ivan. Students are completing a packet that addresses multiple reading skills.  Also, we will be finishing up our final copy of our 2nd grade pen pal letters early next week. 

May reading logs went home this week. Please make sure your child is recording their minutes in their log.

SPELLING  An assessment was given today. On Monday, new sorts will go home. This will be the last one for the year. Three activities from the spelling menu will be due on May 18, the day of the test.

SOCIAL SCIENCE  Science:  We will continue with Mystery Science. We are learning about Animals Through Time:  Habitats, Heredity & Change Over Time.

MATH  Ms. Zurales' math class:  We are revisiting fractions. Students will be introduced to 3 new ways to model, compare, and generate equivalent fractions.  There will be a 11s division quiz on Wednesday, May 9th. 

If your child should forget their Student Book or their Home Connections workbook at school, they can go into my google math classroom from a home computer and print the page they will need to complete for homework.
