Ms. Zurales' Class News
We began a great week in third grade with an in-school field trip on Tuesday about matter. A scientist from High Touch, High Tech came in and taught us all about the three states of matter.
ELA I've really enjoyed the Culture Day presentations. Next week students will finish presenting. We will also begin a unit on Chicago. During this time, students will be working on answering test dependent questions. This week, we will be learning about the Chicago Flag. Students will continue with Daily 4 stations. Don't forget to read for 20 minutes each night. February reading logs are due on March 1st.
SPELLING A spelling test was given today. New words will go home on Monday. Homework (3 items on the menu, 1 from each column) is due on Friday, March 10th, which is also the date of the test.
MATH Ms. Zurales' math class will finish up Unit 5. Students will solve story problems that involve adding two areas. The study guide is due on Tuesday. Please make sure to check over it with your child. The Unit test will be on Wednesday. A practice sheet will go home on Monday for the 8's multiplication facts. A 8's quiz will be given on Friday, March 3rd.
Science We will be learning about the phases of the moon and eclipses.
SOCIAL STUDIES Mr. Blocker, from Junior Achievement, discussed the role of an entrepreneur. Students explored the process involved in starting one type of business: a restaurant. They learned how businesses promote a healthy economy within a city.
