Reading Students will be reading Two Ants, a fiction tale of two ants who decide to leave the safety of the others to venture into a kitchen. They will use the words and the pictures in the story to identify the settings of the story and then determine the theme. They will also be reading Ants, a nonfiction passage. Students will use the visualization strategy to illustrate a scene. They will compare and contrast the two selections.

Reading Logs  May reading logs went home today. Continue to read for 20 minutes each night and record books read in the May Log.

We had our April READING CELEBRATION today. We celebrated with lunch in the classroom, a Magic School Bus Video, about butterflies, and freeze pops.  Way to go readers!

Language Arts

Spelling New word sorts went home on Monday. Students should be completing a spelling activity each night (M-Th). An assessment will be given on Friday.

Math  We began a new topic:  Working With Equal Groups. Students will model repeated addition to write number sentences, build arrays to model repeated addition situations, and use repeated addition to solve problems.

Math Facts Math facts should be reviewed daily.
