Mrs. Caliendo's Chronicles
November 15, 2019
SEL Our SEL focus this week was on conflicting feelings. Students learned that: they can have conflicting feelings about one situation, and having empathy helps them notice when others have the same feelings they do.
Spelling New spelling words went home Monday. We will continue to work on the 3 spelling menu activities at school. They are all due on Friday, November 22, the day of the test.
English Language Arts Don't forget to help your child disguise their turkey. It is due on Tuesday. In class on Tuesday, we will complete a persuasive writing piece. Students will write a letter to a farmer explaining two reasons he should ship the turkey they disguised off his farm. They do not want to be eaten on Thanksgiving. Students will also be practicing their fluency in Reader's theater as they read myths.
Please keep track of your child’s reading (20 minutes, 20 days) and record it on the November log.
Mrs. Caliendo's Math Class Students will practice rounding, subtraction and addition. The Unit 3 Assessment is scheduled for Nov. 20. A study guide went home today. Please review it with your child to prepare for the assessment. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts at home too.
If your child should forget their Student Book or their Home Connections workbook at school, they can go into my google math classroom from a home computer and print the page they will need to complete for homework.
**Thank you to our field trip volunteers: Mrs. Case, Mrs. Parks, Mrs Nawrot, and Mrs. Dablin. We appreciate you taking time out of your day to spend with us!
***Pokemon cards are to be left at home! Thank you for your support!
Reminder: This month we will be helping the kids notice the little things and practice gratitude each day. Research tells us that a daily gratitude practice helps reduce stress, improve focus, and build healthy relationships with others.
