Mrs. Caliendo's Chronicles
October 25, 2019
Social Science In our Downers Grove unit, we will be learning about Prince Pond.
Spelling New spelling words will go home on Monday. We will continue to work on the 3 spelling menu activities at school.
English Language Arts Students are learning the importance of word choice in making an argument more descriptive, powerful, and persuasive to their audience. At the end of the week, students will begin writing an argumentative piece in which they are persuading their audience to buy their haunted house.
Please keep track of your child’s reading (20 minutes, 20 days) and record it on the October log. It is due on or before November 5.
Mrs. Caliendo's Math Class We will focus on three-digit subtraction strategies. Please continue to practice addition and subtraction facts at home too.
If your child should forget their Student Book or their Home Connections workbook at school, they can go into my google math classroom from a home computer and print the page they will need to complete for homework.
During our SEL lesson this week, students learned about others feelings. They learned that they can focus on another person's face and body, and on the situation for clues about how that person is feeling.
Halloween Costumes: On Halloween Day, please send your child's costume in a bag, clearly marked with their name. No weapons are allowed. Make sure it is easy to get on and off. Students will be changing in the classroom (boys in one room, girls in another). If you have any question, please email me.
Conferences for home room students’ parents will be held this coming
Tuesday and Wednesday. I look forward to sitting down with all of you and having a great conversation about your child! There are still a few more openings. Here is the link if you have not yet signed up:
