Mrs. Caliendo's Chronicles
December 6, 2019

SEL Our SEL focus this week was showing compassion.  Students learned that focusing their attention and listening to others help them have compassion for others.

Social Science We began a unit on inheritance and traits this week. Students were introduced to what wildlife biologists study, and to their role as wildlife biologists. Students will be observing similarities and differences in traits among different organisms.

Spelling New spelling words went home Monday. We will continue to work on the 3 spelling menu activities at school. They are all due on Friday, December 13, the day of the test.

English Language Arts   Students will be writing about a family tradition they celebrate. They will be designing a quilt piece describing their own family tradition.

December Reading Logs went home this week. Don't forget to read for 20 minutes/20 days.

Mrs. Caliendo's Math Class   Students will explore number line puzzles and visual problem strings of arrays and windows.

Keep practicing those multiplication facts.  Next week we will be working with the 10's.  A practice sheet went home. A fact quiz will be given on Wednesday, Dec. 11th. It is NOT timed! Students are responsible for mastering the multiplication facts up to 12. The quiz will have about 26 math facts.  Flash cards are a great resource!

If your child should forget their Student Book or their Home Connections workbook at school, they can go into my google math classroom from a home computer and print the page they will need to complete for homework.
