Reading We will wrap up our close read on the article "Little Free Libraries Bring People Together" by finding evidence in the text to answer text dependent
questions. We will also be reading Biblioburro, by Jeanette Winter. It is a story about a man named Luis. Luis loves to read, but soon his house is so full of books there's barely room for the family. Students will ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
Reading Logs Please continue to read and help your child record minutes in their reading log. Six Flags Logs are due by Friday, Feb 27th.
Language Arts
Grammar Lessons will focus on antonyms and synonyms.
Spelling An assessment was given today. New words will be sent home on Tuesday. Please make sure to keep them in a safe place so they can be used throughout the following 2 weeks.
Math Our topic in math is Three-Digit Addition and Subtraction. Students will use models to subtracting three-digit numbers with regrouping, practice subtracting three-digit numbers, and use logical reasoning to solve problems. An assessment will be given on Topic 11 on Friday.
Math Facts Math facts should be reviewed daily. The Math flash cards that you purchased should be used to practice math facts as well as the one minute math practice worksheets that are brought home. Weekly timed tests are given.

Science We will focus on heat and electricity. Students will learn about an energy station.

Star Student of the Week Gabby was our star student of the week. When she is at school she likes gym. When she is at home she likes to play outside. Gabby is a star because she is helpful. When she grows up she would like to be an animal trainer. Thanks for sharing Gabby!

Ide will be collecting new and gently used K-5 books to donate to Whitehead Elementary in Rockford. Books can be sent in with your child or you can drop them off in the marked boxes in the front hallway from Jan 20-Feb 27. Thank you for helping foster the love of reading!
