Ms. Zurales' 3rd Grade News

ELA Students will be presenting their Cultural Day projects beginning Monday. Please make sure to help them complete this. Check their Presentation Expectations page for the exact date of their presentation. With the start of the Third trimester next week, we will begin our final reading unit "Stand Up For What You Believe In!" We will be reading The One and Only Ivan, together in class.
Spelling A new sort went home on Monday. Students should be sorting their words every night. They are to complete 6 activities at the end of the 2 week period. Please make sure you initial the box on the menu that the work has been completed. The next due date for homework and test is Friday, March 11.
Math Next week student will be working with tangrams. They will be taking a look at congruence and similarity. Students will use tangram pieces to begin solving a series of geometric puzzles. We will have a X4 test on Friday.
Social Studies We will continue our study on Chicago. We will focus on the founding of Chicago.
Important Announcements
Mrs. Cushing, the PE teacher, is looking for some help with her indoor tennis unit come April. Parents can just come in for their child's 25 min. PE class or come for the grade level time. Students need help getting the fundamentals down. Students would benefit from having extra people to help toss balls to them so they can practice their skills. I am looking for more volunteers to help me organize my classroom library to align with Fountas & Pinnell's reading levels. If you have some extra time to give, please email me. You can come in when it is convenient for you. This can me done over the next several weeks. Thank you! Thank you Mrs. Wawro and Mrs. Staehely for your help!!
